HA 10c Cover flown in Da Havilland Gypsy Moth G-ATBL, the type used by Amy Johnson in many of her record-breaking fli hts, on 17 Sept 1976 from Southend Municipal Airport. lt.is signed by the Moth pilot, A Haig- Thomas and also by Gp Capt Bain (1215 numbered and certified)


Notes
1. Amy Johnson is best remembered as being the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia (1930) and flying from England to Cape Town in a record breaking 4 days and 7 hours (1932). Amy died as a result of an air crash on 5 Jan 41 at the age of 37.
2. During 1931 Gp Capt Bain flew with Amy Johnson on many occasions, introducing her to the Beechcraft and Percival Gull. They maintained a close friendship until Amy's death.
3. HA 10: contains a photograph of Amy Johnson standing beside her Gypsy Moth.
4. Equal numbers of HA 10b were signed by each Captain.
