HA(SP) 7c Cover bearing a 6F+2F Belgium "Brussels Synagogue" commemorative Stamp. It is signed by the F104G pilot, Major-Aviateur J. Verhaeren and also by Lieutenant-General Baron Michel Donnet (1970 numbered and certified)


Notes
1. Many of the Standard Covers with the alternative Stamp were sold in Belgium so fewer of this type will have been distributed in UK. The exact number is not known.
2. Baron Donnet was born in England in 1917 and joined the Belgian Air Force in 1938. He was taken prisoner in 1940 but escaped, finally crossing to England in a training aircraft accompanied by Leon Divoy. He then flew with the RAF, commanding No 64 Squadron. He flew a total _of 375 offensive op rations and is credited with four victories and five enemy aircraft damaged.
3. The escape of Donnet and Divoy to the UK has been commemorated
by the issue of a Cover by the Royal Air Forces Escaping Society (RAFES 5.0.10).
